woven vs. knit

LindaFaye | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I have just purchased a New Look Pattern #6632 and Simplicity Threads pattern #4368.  Both call for woven type fabrics but I found a really pretty lightweight double knit (I guess I’m describing it right) fabric that I would love to use with either one of these patterns.  Can you tell me if it is alright to use a knit if the pattern calls for a woven?  Will I get into trouble with this?

It depends on how stretchy your knit is... 'not very' and you should be OK.  Very stretchy and you are bound for trouble!

ditto becky. generally, if a pattern specifies knit, it is not suitable for woven, but providing it's not to stretchy, woven can work for knit.
