Zipper replacement on fly front jeans?

Sue_B. | Posted in The Archives on

Hi All,
Need to replace the zipper on a pair of men’s ready-to-wear pants but can’t seem to locate instructions, darn it.
I recall seeing an article in Threads on replacing a zipper in Levi’s. Could anyone direct me to the correct issue, or any good set of instructions? I can get back issues at the library.
Thanks very much.

*Hiya Jean, what are you doing over here in Threads? Actually you've probably been here all along, it's me who's not around much. My baking fetish takes over my sewing time. Wish I'd thought of trying the magazine index, I'll give it a whack also.

*Found it, I hope. Thanks, Jean, for sending me in the right direction. Now I hope my library has that issue...Threads Aug/Sept 1996 #66 JEANS ZIPPER BROKEN by Bjorg Frackelton p.54 "Repair it in a snap"

*Great! Would you believe I have that issue? If you can't find it, I'd gladly copy it for you, it's just 2 pages. I could probably even email it to you. Let me know.

*Whoa, what are the chances of that? Thank you for the copy offer Jean, but before I trouble you let me try the library. If I don't have any luck there I'll holler.

*Jean, the library only had back issues to 1997. Drat. If you have a scanner or something I'd be grateful if you could post the article or whatever it takes. I've never used the email on this site but I'm sure I can manage it somehow if needed. Thanks very much.
