Hi Dearborn!
I saw that online course, but I was hoping that maybe sometime in the past there might have been an article on the zippered welt pocket in a Threads magazine and I wouldn't have to pay for the course. It is a little pricey when you pay in Canadian dollars, but I may not have a choice. Thanks.

Hi Shiri,
Do you really need instructions? The easiest method I've seen is to make a "window"
in your fabric using organdy in the same fashion as the beginnings of a bound buttonhole. (look up how to make bound buttonholes)
You take an oversized piece of organdy, draw the stitching line on it, stitch, cut, turn and
press. You end up with a window sized to just go around the zipper teeth. Lay the zipper
in with basting tape and top stitch very close to the edge. It's really not hard at all.
Hi accledmu,
Thanks for your input. I will give it a try.

Also, Sandra Betzina's book, "Power Sewing," has this technique, with great photographs.....
Hello Donna!
Thank you very much. I am just getting back at sewing and never thought to look in that book. I want to use that technique on some fleece jackets this winter and didn't know how to incorporate the zipper. I have Judy Barlup's book and video on tailoring and it gives excellent instructions for the welt pocket, but no zipper. Thanks again.
