I made this lined reverse bolero jacket from an original 50s pattern by famed costume designer Edith Head, to wear to an event at the Motion Picture Academy Museum. It’s made of raw silk and lined with rayon challis, with corded buttonholes and vintage buttons. It has kimono sleeves, and is fitted with darts in the front, back, and at the elbows. There is a facing at the bottom in lieu of a hem. I made a muslin version first to fit the pattern, then constructed the exterior and lining using haute couture techniques. More construction details are on JetSetSewing.com.
