Pattern Review: Colette Patterns Moneta Dress

Threads #178, April/May 2015

Sewing Tip: Check to see if the pockets are large enough before cutting them.

This review was originally featured in Threads #178 (April/May 2015).

Colette Patterns: Moneta Dress 1028

This simple, knee-length knit dress has a bateau neckline, a fitted bodice with an optional lining, and a gathered skirt with in-seam pockets. A narrow collar that overlaps at the center back can be added. Make this dress with short sleeves, half sleeves, or sleeveless. There are no closures, and the bodice is designed with negative ease, so putting on this dress depends solely on the amount of stretch the fabric provides.

The sewing directions come in a bound booklet and include a section dedicated to working with knits. The instructions are clear and concise and are accompanied by diagrams and helpful sewing hints interspersed throughout. For comfort, select medium-weight fabrics with a good amount of stretch.

(Sized XS-3X [0-26] for busts 33-54 in. and hips 35-56 in.)

Sewing Tip: Check to see if the pockets are large enough before cutting them.

-Tested by Toby Barton, Winsted, Connecticut
