SewStylish Spring Fashion Challenge 2015

Vibrant African Print Halter

This dress gives me so much LIFE!!!  The vibrant colors in this African Wax print really pop and are so versatile that the dress can be accessorized many, many ways.  I constructed this beauty with Simplicity 1159 (MimiG) by using the bodice from View B and the skirt of View A.  I wanted this dress to be a little retro and cool for this upcoming Texas summer so I did a little something different and shortened it to midi length instead of the full floor length the pattern calls for.  I love the way it turned out and as a beginner I am also proud to say that this was the first time my invisible zipper was FLAWLESS! I am so excited about wearing this outfit this summer!

Hi LauraLeeSews, thank you so much for the compliment. I bought this fabric from a woman who has fabric group on FB. She has some gorgeous prints and I snatch them up when there's one I really like. Here is the link to her page...

You may be a beginner, but I'd say you are a fearless beginner! Great job mixing different views and shortening the skirt to get just what you wanted.
I love the print - thanks for your earlier share of the page for the woman who sells these fabrics.
Inspiring! And congrats on the fine job on the zipper.
