The sky blue dress

From the back. I love a deep neckline in the back, but it's a bit of a gap that disturbs me just a little bit.

I’ve been working on The Ultimate Dress Pattern for a couple of months and making endless toiles from it. This is the first version in “real” fabric and although I’m very happy with it, The Ultimate Dress Pattern will need some more work.

I love this silouette; a fitted kneelength dress with 3/4 sleeves. I think I was a bit too generous with the ease (1-2 cm too much) and the sleeves need to be drafted again. Other than that; it’s good. I do love the split bust darts and the double darts in the back; they do give a better fit.

The fabric is a very drapey cotton sateen bought in Paris last autumn. It’s so nice to wear, but was rather horrible to cut and work with. Perhaps the fabric would have worked better with a less structured design.
