Pheobe-Elsa Dress

Don't let them in, don't let them see. Be the good girl you always have to be.

My grand-daughter loved the character Elsa as many little girls do and when the film first came out there weren’t any reasonably prices outfits for her birthday that was just around the corner. So I decided to take an old bodice I had from a Swan Princess pattern that I believe was from McCall’s pattern (size 5 to 8). my grand-daughter at the time was a size 3 so I began to adjust, trim and cut it to fit her size. This was a surprise for her so sneaking in her room in the middle of the night to try to fit it to her was a challenge but well worth it when she saw the final product.

I used an old t-shirt of my spouses to cut the pattern to fit and since I was using a stretch fabric for her bodice the t-shirt fabric worked well. I then bought a yard of mesh sparkle fabric to go all around the bottom of the dress beginning at approximately 2 inches from the arm pit and continuing all around to other side. I put a casing in the mesh fabric and weaved rope elastic through it before i secured it to the dress leaving a 2 inch opening for the zipper to go pass. if you look closely you will see that the dress is designed to be placed over the head and not to be stepped into as this would surely tear the mesh and opening that is allowed for the dress to be placed on. The dress in the film is designed to be slightly over the shoulder and that is what I designed this for, as she grew the dress grew with her and she was able to wear it for another 2 years. She loves the dress to this day even though she cannot wear it any longer.
