To help you get your desired fit, fitting expert and Threads contributor Sarah Veblen demonstrates how to fit your back with the help of two mirrors and marking tools. Sarah’s extensive knowledge of fitting and garment making comes from decades of creating custom clothing for her clientele. She specializes in fit, innovative pattern design, and quality construction. She now primarily teaches, and her focus continues to be on helping women create a wardrobe that is comfortable and compatible with their lifestyle.

Sarah has authored many articles and publications on sewing and design, including her books, The Complete Photo Guide to Perfect Fitting and First Time Garment Fitting, and writes her own occasional blog. Sarah has made a series of instructional fitting DVDs, produced by Threads, on skirt and bodice fitting and on making stylistic changes to a master pattern.

    Yikes! You recommended in this video the use of a sharpie marker to mark areas of the back needing alterations that you can't reach to pin? Why would you suggest using a permanent marking tools? If the mark is not correct or if you are letting out the seam, the marker would be complete visible.

    There are a large number of marking tools that are not permanent that you could recommend using here.
