This glowing bride-to-be – my beautiful daughter – is modeling the dress I made for her bachelorette getaway in anticipation of her wedding last summer. Using McCall’s 6557, I made the dress of satin with a fully underlined and lined bodice and with a bodice overlay of a sparkle jersey knit. The skirt was lined wrong sides together by stitching at the hemline and turning so that there is no hem but instead a clean finished hemline — a painstaking step but well work the effort in the finished garment!  I further customized the dress to include a taffeta petticoat with double shimmery illusion ruffles. The petticoat is detachable, with hook/eye tape sewn to the midriff lining and to the petticoat.Â
