Spring always fills me with a thought of bright colors, so when I decided on this spring dress I wanted to create a flare dress with multiple bright colors and here is my creation. This flared dress has bodice that sits in the natural waist and the skirt starts from the natural waist.
The bodice has round neckline with fuchsia color piping on it and I designed the dress in which it has two lines of piping in the center front. It has the waist darts for shaping.
The skirt has four tiers, arranged based on colors. Each tier has increasing flare gradually from top to bottom. The tiers are attached using gathering stitch. It took lot of time and meticulous work to arrange the gathers all through the layers. Each layer is edge stitched. I used ½” wide trim in the bottom to give a border effect.
The dress has 3/4th sleeves and it took me at least 2 weeks of search to get a fabric to create sleeves that represent all the colors in the skirt! I have given yellow and orange borders to the sleeve ends.
This is a pullover dress.
I love the colorful and the horizontal layered four tier dress, which I feel apt for the spring!
