This review was originally featured in Threads #184 (April/May 2016).
This semifitted trouser or short sits 2 inches below the waist, has a flattering, curved waistband, a fly zipper, side-front pockets, back waist darts, and narrow legs. The lengths are just below the knee (described as “skimmer”), ankle, and instep. The front creases are narrow tucks stitched from the waistline to the hemline on the pant legs before construction. It is a detail that adds visual texture and keeps the crease looking crisp. The notches and match points align correctly. Fabrics with body are appropriate for this design, including denim, wool gabardine, crepe, linen, and blends. Contingent on the length and fabric chosen, this design can go anywhere, from the beach to the boardroom.
(Sized Misses’ 6-22 for hips 32.5-46 in.)
Style Tip: Convert the crease to a seam and combine subtly different fabrics.
