The bride was planning to wear her grandmother’s wedding dress from 1942 made from satin accented with Schiffli lace. The gown had discolored to a darker ivory/champagne beige shade. I was able to obtain bridal illusion in a color that was a beautiful match. The bride wanted to trim the veil with a Schiffli lace for a coordinated look. After some research online, I found a lace that she liked. I had to dye the lace to match the gown and the illusion. Since this lace had a single scalloped edge, I used a satin cord to hide the other raw edge of the lace. Fortunately, the cording was also available in a matching dark ivory.
The veil is what I call a “Radiance” style due to the lovely radiating folds. It is actually an oval that is folded off-center. A “doughnut” hold is cut at the center of the fold and then gathered and hand-stitched to a comb. This veil is a 126″ Cathedral length veil with a 31 1/2″ top tier.
I hope you enjoy seeing this project…I had great fun creating it! You can see more of my designs at www.VeilArtistry.com/my_brides.html.
