Jacket and skirt
I started with only 1 yard each of the green/periwinkle iridescent linen and the striped linen and a half yard of the periwinkel ribbed linen. Because I wanted a jacket, skirt and top I had to get creative so I would have enough fabric. I eliminatd seam allowances and facings which saved fabric and showed off the soft drape of the linen. The jacket is pieced and all the seams are serged to the outside. The skirt is straight with a fly zipper and back kick pleat to accomodate walking! There is no waist band, the top is finished with a bias strip of the periwinkel linen. The vest was assemble completely with my bias binding attachment using 1 inch cotton strips. I had to follow a specific order to make sure all the seams were finished. (Shoulder seams and center back seam first, fronts from side to side, then back hem and arm holes, and finally the side seams, which are offset to reduce bulk.) Stacked buttons finish the front closure.
I absolutely love it! The colors, the off-beat stripe patterns, the vest--what an inspiration!!!
