Kinley in “Popping Pink”

A casual pose

Kinely is my great-niece.  Even though I live in South Carolina and she lives in Iowa, I enjoy sewing for her, as I did for her mother when she was young.  My latest project is a special dress and sweater she wore to a wedding.  The dress was constructed from a bright cotton print with pinks, greens, blues, and yellows.  The dress has a reversible sash.  It is fully lined.  The skirt is lined with an additional petticoat.  This gives the dress its fullness.  I knit a sweater to go with the dress out of Sidar Snuggly Baby Bamboo. It is wonderfully soft.  I try to make all my garments look as wonderful on the inside as they appear from the outside.  Fine handwork is one of my signatures.  The dress has many examples of this craftsmanship.

I love making clothes from my daughter, she gets very happy. You can really tell how they enjoy a handmade garment without them telling you.
