Draped Knit Dress

Dress front

This dress is the closest I have ever come to a “one-seam” dress. The entire skirt is one piece (If you don’t count joining panels) and the bodice, straps and pocket are all one piece. Where the skirt is sewn to the bodice (And straps to skirt) is just one big seam making a jagged circle around the garment.   I love weird Functional pockets!!!  The bodice extends down to create one side of the pocket, the other side is the cowl of the skirt.

To help the dress (The drapes) keep the shape/placement while worn, I added Some internal features. Mainly an elastic stay in the back, and a facing/bandeau top around the bust.

The Fabric is a Teal Cotton knit (medium weight) and the trim is a 1/2″ polyester braid.

(Show on the size 8 mannequin on which it was draped)
