Tuscany Jacket

Carol was inspired to design this jacket from issue #131 on how to use home decorating fabric for making garments.  She made her own pattern using princess darts and because of the weight of the fabric chose to eliminate lapels. By manipulating the fabric, a mirror image was made for centers front and back.  A coordinating striped fabric was used for side back, side front and underarm sections, separating the seams with bias cut piping.  Hidden pockets were added between the front and front side seams.  I remembered seeing frog loop buttonholes from issue #58 and used those ideas as a guide to make the closures out of the bias fabric.  The jacket was echo quilted around the elaborate fabric design using matching rayon thread. If it were not for Threads magazine, I would not have attempted this difficult project.
