Elizabethan Rose

Top and skirt front view

My party ensemble consists of a corset-style top, a matching skirt and a purse. The garments are made from a combination of black chantilly lace, black silk chiffon and a salmon-colored silk underlining. For the corset, the lining is covered with a layer of chiffon and further embellished with either machine quilting or an overlay of lace. Each panel is then decorated with a rust colored velvet ribbon. The bodice of the corset has an overlay of ruched chiffon. The corset is fully lined and shaped with internal boning.  The skirt consists of 2 tiers, made of the same 3 layers of lace chiffon and silk, and is similarly embellished with velvet ribbon. The purse consists of 2 squares, has a zippered opening and is embellished with ribbon, a tassel, and a hand-beaded fringe of my own design. The top is based on Vogue 2481, the skirt on Simplicity 4220 and the purse on Vogue 7221.
