Quilt Your Stash

Quilted Coat

I made this coat using an upholstery fabric remnant. Because there was not enough of the first remnant for the entire coat, I purchased another piece with a different print, but in the same color family. The underlining is thermo fleece – nice and warm!  The lining is a beautiful Asian print with a hint of the same color story. Where is the quilting, you ask? The primary upholstery fabric is quilted around each of the graphic squares using monofilament thread and the thermo fleece as “batting”.  The pattern I used was New Look’s Project Runway 6074. I opted not to do the one button collar, but to leave it open with a lapel look.  Although Chicago did not get the winter it usually would have, I am ready for next winter!

Very nice! Great fabric choices and symmetry. That must have been a _lot_ of work but so worth it. Beautiful ...

Kate_W - thanks! It was a lot of work, but quite a bit of fun matching up everything. Monofilament thread is great to work with it!
