My French Fashionistas 3/4 length coat is from modified Burda #7314.It was made a little more narrow, and with a weighted back kick pleat. Tailoring methods used in construction were: pad stitched hymo interfacing,Kenneth King’s sleeve cap insertion technique, and center front hidden placket with flat button closure.Lining is black Bemberg. The fabric was purchased on a trip to France and is most probably intended for upholstery. It is a woven collage of famous French cover girls (but, Madonna is there too) and snippets of articles from a variety of French fashion publications. It was cut in a single layer to allow for absolutely perfect match of the faces and text.I used a fusible interfacing throughout the entire body to keep it stable. It is great fun to wear and always invites a conversation from young and old alike. I spied a man behind me in line at Starbucks actually capturing a photo of it on his smart phone one morning.
