A child’s linen jacket echoing the shades of a slowly emerging fall. It was inspired by the Threads issue (#168) that showed a dress with feathers around the neckline in the fashion fabric. I opted to cut and sew stylized acorn leaves from ‘scraps’ of the jacket fabric and others from previous projects. Felt acorns done by a local artist are sewn amongst the leaves and as an embellishment on the sleeves. Topstitching is done using silk embroidery floss. The silk habutai lining is edged with rickrack. The inside lower front and back are further decorated with appliqued leaves.Â
