I found this beautiful purple quilted fabric at my local independent fabric dealer and just had to make a light jacket. The fabric is water-repellent is self-lined with a light fleece so it was a perfect selection for an unlined coat. I eliminated the facing on the collar and simply turned up the seam allowance over the fleece to make a nice edge. This worked well since the fabric itself had a lot of body. The seams were all top-stitched which gave the outside seams some visual interest. The buttonholes were made with a piece of self-fabric and I simply stitched a small rectangle the size of the button, and turned the extra piece inside, following it up with topstitching on the front of the buttonhole. I love Neue Mode patterns and have found them online at www.sewingpatterns.com
