I love black and white for spring and was inspired by the catalog photos for this knit cardigan jacket, Vogue pattern #8819. Unfortunately the pattern did not come with any instruction for matching stripes. In the end, I cut each pattern piece from a single layer of the fashion fabric, then matched the stripes from the cut piece to its mirror-image on the fabric, and then placed the pattern tissue down to cut the second piece, accounting for seam allowances. To hold the stripes in place for sewing, I used wash-away basting tape inside the seam allowance, and a teflon foot. I had to make several fitting adjustments to the pattern — full bust adjustment, forward shoulder, sloping shoulder and sway back — a challenge, but I love the fit and wear the jacket often.
