cotton summer dress
Usually I shop for fabric first, then buy or design my own pattern. This pattern called for knit material for the jacket, but instead I used a cotton woven solid blue that enhanced the pattern in the dress. The sewn buttoned with no buttton hole sleeves still draped pleasantly but next time I will try a different type of fabric. The dress is cool and comfortable and was very easy to sew. The neckline and arm holes are finished with bias tape. There are two in seam pockets. I made my own matching belt to be worn with or without the dress. The front and back yoke has gathered stitches instead of darts. All seams are zig zaged stitched to prevent unraveling.
