I have 4 daughters and I love making costumes for them each year.  This year they chose to be Southern Belles. These costumes were so much fun to make. I used a McCall pattern for the dress and bought hats, parasols, and hoop skirts. I embellished the hats with Russian netting, feathers, and flowers. After I finished the first dress I had my oldest daughter try it on with the hoop skirt. She sat down and the hoop skirt made the dress lift right up so I ended up making some pantaloons to wear under the dresses (no pattern used).
