Here is my daughter Isabella with the full dress lit up.
This was a collaboration project. We attempted to make a dress similar to one worn by Katy Perry at the 2008 MTV Music Awards. The carousel is made from lightweight thin plywood and wood dowels and 20 red and 20 white led’s from Amazon.com powered by 6 hidden AA batteries. A lego sound brick makes the carousel music. It is a 2 piece design. The leotard pattern was created by Giselle Becker. The fabric was made in photoshop then digitally printed by spoonflower.com Over a dozen sticks of hot glue were used, The tent scallops were printed to scale, hand cut, hand sewn and velcro was sewn on the back to adhere to the thin plywood carousel. The tent features a beautiful purple zipper to make it easy to slip the carousel on and off. The carousel was painted with glitter paint. Animals were purchased at Toys R US and painted with fluorescent spray paint. Poles were dyed with food coloring. We are very proud of our creation. We hope you enjoy it as much as my daughter. She almost cried when we unveiled it for her a few days before Halloween.

This dress was created by me and Giselle Becker for my 8 year old daughter. Giselle created the pattern by hand in photoshop and we sent it to spoonflower.com to be digitally printed onto the fabric. The dress features 40 led's, a lego sound brick to make carousel sounds and an incredible amount of machine and hand stitching.
Here is am image of the fabric. Giselle made a leotard from the fabric and added a foam padded sleeve.

Wow the photos do not do this costume justice. The planning and time and effort that went into this costume is amazing and for that reason should be a winner. The other costumes were all fabulous too.
A loose-fitting, lined, robe-style design, the Grant Coat has patch pockets, a shawl-like insert around the neck, darted shoulders, and inverted box pleats at the sleeve hemline.
