I made this vest to wear to the National Button Society Convention this past summer. I am an avid sewer and button collector and wanted to wear something that was a conversation piece and that would help me meet new people. The vest is made out of button patterned fabric. The front features contrasting strips of fabric with wonderful buttons sewn on. There are also two appliqued pockets with button embroideries on them. On the back, there are are also strips of contrasting fabric with an array of buttons. There is another button embroidered patch. The best part of the vest is the jar of buttons. All the buttons are sewn on by hand. The jar is embroidered and filled with real buttons, many of which are shell, glass and metal. The vest is lined with the same fabric as the contrasting strips and features a strip of the button fabric across the upper back, a signature feature in all the vests I have made. I had fun designing and making ithe vest and a lot of pleasure wearing it.
