Halloween Costume Contest 2016

The Red Queen

The Red Queen, Full View

The Red Queen costume was made using patterns Simplicity 3782 and Butterick 4954  (sleeves) along with custom patterns for cuff and red bodice front.  It is a reproduction of the Red Queen from the television show Once Upon A Time on ABC.  The bodice front was altered, somewhat, to achieve the correct look.  Red Dupioni silk, embroidered organza, felt, canvas, picot taffeta, and costume satin are the fabrics used.  I could not find the exact embellishments I needed so I used upholstery piping, and 3″ wide satin ribbon overlaid with floral ribbon (ribbon and overlay were cut in half, lengthwise, for the bodice).  Over 300 beads and gold rings were applied by hand with needle and thread.
