Instructors + Classes
Kenneth D. King
Kenneth is a couture fashion designer, author, adjunct instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, and a respected sewing authority. He teaches fitting and couture sewing techniques through the Smart Fitting, Smart Sewing Order, and Smart Tailoring video series and his recent book, Smart Fitting Solutions (The Taunton Press, 2018).
In Kenneth’s session, he’ll present innovative methods from his PDF book Cool Tricks Takes Manhattan as well as Threads magazine articles. Learn how to sew inside and outside curves, apply the couture Hong Kong finish, and create curved tucks, an embellishment also known as fluting.
Susan Khalje
Susan is a couture sewing expert, sought-after educator, and author of Bridal Couture: Fine Sewing Techniques for Wedding Gowns and Evening Wear (Krause, 1997) and Linen and Cotton: Classic Sewing Techniques (The Taunton Press, 1999). Committed to preserving couture sewing techniques, she runs a sewing school and hosts couture arts tours to London and Paris.
In Susan’s class, you’ll discover hand-sewing techniques for working with glorious lace. Examine lace garments Susan has made for her books, articles, and videos; learn to identify and select different lace types, and apply her couture methods for polished results.
Louise Cutting
Louise has been featured in instructional DVDs, including the eight-volume Industry Insider Techniques and How to Fit a Changing Figure. She is designer for Cutting Line Designs patterns, including the innovative One-Seam Pant. An internationally known speaker on sewing and design, Louise also shares her expertise through published articles.
From Louise, you’ll learn easy pattern adjustments to solve common fitting problems. Through pattern templates and garment examples, she’ll explain key elements of a good fit and how to achieve it in your sewn wardrobe.
Don’t miss a chance to learn from these renowned sewing educators.
