Sewing Tip: Consider sewing a "safety" seam in the back crotch area for reinforcement.

This review was originally featured in Threads #177 (February/March 2015).

Butterick 6071

These straight-legged pants by Connie Crawford are great for casual or professional settings. They feature a buttoned waistband, a mock fly zipper, front slant pockets, back darts that begin above and end below the back welt pockets, and hemline slits on the ankle-length view. The instructions are easy to understand and offer clear directions and illustrations on how to fit the pattern. Once fitted, the construction time is minimal. All notches and markings align perfectly, making this pattern a breeze to sew. Appropriate for denim, linen, twill, genuine or faux leather, cotton velour, and lightweight home décor fabrics.

(Sized Misses’/Women’s XS-6X [3-44W] for hips 35-76 in.)

Sewing Tip: Consider sewing a “safety” seam in the back crotch area for reinforcement.

-Tested by Janith Bergeron, Barrington, New Hampshire
