back to the mobius

as usual i am a little late with catching up with my editions of Threads. Just saw the mobius scarf. Found all the updates on sizeing graph and such, but was just wondering if anyone found a way to make it without using 2 1/2 yds of material?I would be interested to hear from those that made it. I made 2 last night and just love the idea. Anyone done it in velvet? Or how about plain velvet on one side and print velvet on the other? Silk velvet of course

I made a trial one out of very soft lining fabric. It is difficult to explain, but if you cut the pieces parallel, rather than at right angles, I think you will find it takes a lot less fabric. Also, if you are prepared to tolerate a seam in the centre back you can economise some more by putting the pieces head to tail. I think you would need a very soft, light velvet or perhaps one velvet and one fine silk side, but it would be gorgeous.
