pin collector’s display

mygaley | Posted in Patterns on

My adult son works for Disney and attends meets to swap Disney tac-back pins. He wants a “new and different” “vest or something” to display and transport them. Some ideas already used are wearing them on a lanyard and wearing a hunting-type vest. He lives in Florida and of course it will be hot. This will most likely be worn over a ratty tshirt and some baggy shorts. Please share your ideas with me. Galey

by hunting vest, i assume you mean the type with the back made from strong mesh? sounds like a good idea. i've seen similar ones in black, and more fitted, worn by crew on movies shoots. cool, good ventilation and no added weight. but i don't know where they came from. i've considered making one for myself.

What about the kind of "vest" that traffic-directors and bike-riders, etc. use to make themselves more visible? It slips over the head - a bib-like affair with both a front and back, that has ties or maybe velcro fasteners at the sides. Seems it might be cooler than a full vest.

How about a Hawaiian type shirt pattern?  He could wear it open like a jacket.   You could make the collar out of a Disney fabric and maybe the pocket if it wouldn't look too childish.  I have also seen the young people wearing jean style or cargo style vests.  Mary

Thanks for your help. I have just spent 4 days at the home of all things Disney with my DS and DGD and believe me, there is nothing that is too Disney (childish) for them. Thanks again, Galey

Sounds like a really great time, what wonderful memories!  We could use some of that nice warm weather here in Colorado, there is still three feet of snow in the yard.  I need a vacation!!!  Mary
