Where can I find a user’s manual for my Sears Kenmore sewing machine, model #158.10400? It was made in the 70’s. Any suggestions?

Rebecca - Ask the people selling sewing machines at Sears if they can find out who made that machine or can direct you to someone who can tell you. Then contact that manufacturer. If that doesn't work you could contact each manufacturer about the machine. Most manufacturers have e-mail addresses.

You can also go to http://www.sewingworld.com (you need to register but there is a ton on information available there), open a new topic and ask about your machine. The ladies there use all kinds of machines and someone can probably help you.

    Good luck.

*Rebecca - I have a model 1584180, which is likely very similar & also made in the 70's & if you don't find yours anywhere I will be happy to photocopy & mail. The phone number for Sears Parts is 1 800 665 4455. That's a canadian #, I think. I haven't always had great success with them, but sometimes you get a helpful person on the other end, so it might be worth a try.
