Help! I am so sorry I traded in my 1960’s very basic, easy (one step bobbin winder) Singer sewing machine. I’m a beginner, mostly need to do hems and minor repairs. What is the easiest, reliable sewing machine you know? Thanks!

there are tons of posts on buying machines here and on http://www.sewingworld.com (try a search to find the discussion threads)
My best advice:
1) Make a list of things you will do with the machine (buttonholes?, sewing knits?) and a few that you'd like to try...this will determine the features
2) Find a dealer in your area that gives free lessons with the machine -- this is well worth it!! (You can still get deals, they have trade-ins and floor models)
I have a Bernina and I love it (actually I have a Bernina serger and a regular bernina!)
*If you don't want to spend a whole lot of money watch rummage sales for a good used machine or check with a dealer for a used machine. You will have better luck with them then you will with the CHEAP sewing machines at department stores. They used to make better machines than the cheap ones are now.
