Trimming Garments with Feathers

Denise_Gaston | Posted in The Archives on

Hi There,

I need some expert advice, I am going to a very formal event and I have chosen to wear a pink satin pantsuit, I want to trim collar and sleeves with black feathers. Can someone tell me the best way to do this, should I sew feathers directly onto the garment or make a swatch sew feathers on swatch (not sure swatch is proper wording oh well!) then sew swatch onto garment. P.. I do plan on removing feathers to have suit dry cleaned.

Denise, I would recommend that you post this question at http://www.sewingworld.com. Under the heading of "Tips and Techniques," there's a bridal and formal discussion. The ladies there are very experienced (some of them are professionals), and I have seen messages there about attaching feather trim to gowns.
