Wearing Ease in Sleeve

Catherine_Tannock | Posted in The Archives on

I have a full bust and therefore had to make alterations to a princess bodice. This made the armscye too small for the sleeve, so I need to re-draft the sleeve pattern. In addition, I have a large upper arm and have to add width to the sleeve,

How much ease do I need to add around the arm? And how much ease do I need to add to the length of the armscye to have a nicely rolled sleeve cap?

Help!

Nancy Zieman has a book showing the slide and pivot method for princess line dresses. This method does notinvolve change the armhole size.

*I make the same adjustments to my patterns but I have never had a problem with the arms getting smaller. I use the slash and spread method. I absolutely recommend the book "Fit for real People" by Pati Palmer. It truly is the best book out. Very easy to understand. I never thought I would ever be able to fit my large bust but I did it! Yippee!
