Backing for table runners

What type of fabric would you suggest using for backing velvet tablerunners? I thought I’d use that quilted fabric that has the batting attached but it just doesn’t seem to look well with the velvet. Any ideas?

    Hi Susan,

If you look at some of the fabric web sites you'll see a lot of inexpensive dupioni silks. They're pretty stiff and have a nice elegant sheen that may complement your velvet. Here's two I've seen that carry dupioni -- http://www.fabricclub.com/ and http://store.yahoo.com/phoenixtextiles/
