Caring for leather?

Hi All. Just bought a good black leather jacket that will see a lot of hard use including getting caught in the occasional San Francisco rain and fog. I’d like to keep it in top shape. Can someone recommend a T&T product for cleaning and/or finish-preserving/water-resistance/conditioning on smooth leather? Also the jacket is quite wrinkled in places (from being shipped no doubt), is there a way to work out the wrinkles if they don’t ‘hang out’ on their own? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sue, don't try to treat it at home. Use a good leather/furrier cleaning establishment to treat it and keep it in good repair. As for the wringles, you can iron them out with a DRY iron set just about the 1st setting to produce steam, but no hotter than wool. Tear up an old heavby brown grocery bag and use as a press cloth. Go slowly and don't let iron stay in one place - move in a small circular motaion to avoid imprinting outline of iron plate. If the leather - I assume like shoe leather or kid, this will work fine. If pearlized, embossed, or sueded, again use a good furrier to get them out for you. Bill

*Bill, I am grateful for your advice on leather care - I will leave treatment to the pros. I had no idea you could iron leather but your method of using a brown-paper press cloth makes sense, I will try it (carefully). Thank you!
