I am looking for a source for Coat lining fabric. I have seen this in vintage coats: very heavy, yet with wonderful drape and sheen, like liquid metal. I am making my younger son a wool/cashmere overcoat and want the best possible lining fabric to complete a garment that should last him a lifetime. Thanks.

One great coat lining is called Kasha which is a flannel backed satin with a wonderful drape. It is great for winter coats. There are heavy satin linings which are made from acetate or I have even used satin fashion fabric for linings as it has a heavier weight.
*I remember a heavy satiny lining with a silvery "inside" (away from the body) which helped keep you warm, called Milium. Is this what you are thinking of? I would bet that if it still exists, a good fabric store with an 800 number or website could help you find it (or do a search on the web?). Good luck; the coat sounds gorgeous.TJ
*Nothing makes me happier when I put on a coat than a really wonderful lining. I love a conservative coat or blazer with a lining either in a terrific contrasting color - a cherry red lining in a charcoal grey coat, or a really wild print. It is just a nice bonus. I once bought a boring denim jacket for the terrific lining- a bright southwest print.
