crinoline patterns or advice?

I am getting married in two months, and I have decided that my bridesmaids dresses would look less droopy if they wore some (not too stiff) crinolines underneath. I do not like the white ones that are available in bridal shops and would like to make the crinolines myself. I suspect I do not need a pattern per se, but I could use some instruction or tips on how to construct them. Has anyone made crinolines and do you have any advice? Please keep in mind that for the sake of my own sanity, I would like to keep this project SIMPLE! Thanks!

To make a petticoat: Use crinoline net (it is a lot stiffer than craft nylon net) and cotton or your favorite lining material for the base skirt. Make the base skirt with two or three "gore" shaped pieces of the cotton. Hem the skirt. Now you will add layers of net ruffles. The first layer of net folds over double, gathers enormously, and joins about 10" up. Add further layers, one above the other. Each is longer than the ones before as every layer comes all the way down to the hemline. To finish it softly, add two or three layers of tulle almost as long as the skirt. This will help keep hard edges of crinoline from showing through the gown. Top may be elasticised, drawstring, or sewn in as part of the dress. Good luck!
