Eileen Roche “Magna-Hoop”

Cherrypops | Posted in Machine Embroidery on

Hi All,

Does anyone here have this Magna-Hoop?

What do you think of it?

Is this hoop a good addition to my hoop family?

Any advice is appreciated. Thinking of buying one through the Designs In Machine Embroidery website, but would love to hear from you ladies first.

I have Janome 350E  – Standard A and B and GigaHoop.

I do not have the hoop, but asked the mfg of my machine about it and they only cautioned to make sure the needle clears the metal frame that will surround the item you are embroidering.  I think DME is a great magazine, but the price of the hoop seems to vary from merchant to merchant...........DME $130. USD....Allbrands $100. USD.....there may be a difference in shipping, but it is the same product.

I made the business card holder featured a few issues ago and use it constantly.......no business cards, but it sure is great for storing my special credit card (online purchases only) next to the computer!

Thank you for asking and finding about the needle. news to me. I can't find much info in Australia.

Had a look at some websites and yes the price varies. Because the Designs website/email newsletter was offering it with the In The Hoop Tool Kit - a little cheaper, i thought it best to check.

I subscribed online this year to DME. Our newsagents don't stock it. I love it! My mum buys Machine Embroidery and Textile Art, Aust, so i've given that a go this year too. halfprice offer.

Bought "Contemporary Machine Embroidered Fashions" from an Aust. Online Bookstore which hould arrive soon.

Little by Little, i'll get organised. Not urgent for hoop.

Is Quilting Arts magazine available to you?  It is a beautiful magazine, but very arty, IMHO.  I have a few issues, but am not going to continue my subscription.  I've one Australian book on art quilting that I think is just great.  Not many books/magazines from other countries available here, although I have not checked the local bookstore as I thought it to be mostly for students....I may be missing out, gotta go check...a college town bookstore should be versatile, right?

Quilting Arts: I will haven't heard of it nor seen it. But I will have a better look. Borders bookstore stock a lot of international magazines. I'll ask. Thanks

I get Quilting Arts Mag., why don't you subscribe to thier free newsletter and check out thier website to see what you think?  It is very art focused with a multitude of unique techniques.  I love it, but it is not for everyone.

Also, Creative Machine Embroidery is a great monthly magazine, as well as Quilting and Embroidery seasonally.  Free downloadable designs on thier website, pattern info, techniques, crochet lace by machine, applique, quilting, etc.  I think it is http://www.cmemag.com  They are sister pub of SewNews I think.  Hey, why not order one back issue of a magazine to see if you like the formats, that way, you don't have to subscribe unless it appeals to you.  For cme backorders and to buy designs that were free before expiration dates, go to http://www.sewnshop.com or to subscribe.  The CME mag has articles with a technique and tells you what designs to order from whom and also has techniques or projects to go with the free design of the month.  It is great.

Thanks again for looking after me, someone else, here I think, mentioned Quilting Arts.

Havin a "duh" moment, never thought to order a backissue first.

I think i've seen CME , i'll keep it in mind for next shopping trip, and yes i'll check out the websites.

It certainly brings the world together, the internet and friendly forums. I subscribe to  the Designs in Machine Embroidery Magazine.. Eileen Roche. as well as the Australian one - Machine embroidery and Textile Art. I am new at this type of craft. I've sewn for ages, but it's fun putting the designs onto fabric and goin from there. I have the Janome 350e.

It sounds like loads of fun and I wish I had an embroidery machine too.  I hope to have one soon.

      Hi, Spicegirl :)

I just read your old post about making the business card holder from DME magazine. I wrote that article!! How great that you use it constantly :) :) That was my first ever published project article and I have another article in the current issue (July '07) with 2 more coming out in the next 2 issues. So glad the project was a success for you (and I can't believe I stumbled upon your message about it :)  :)

      Happy sewing!!

      JoAnn  C.  :)
