Fabric Shopping in Washington

Ilynn | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

We will be traveling to the Seabeck, WA area at Thanksgiving time. I will be making a wedding dress for my sister soon, and I am on the lookout for fine, quality wedding gown fabrics and stores (not “fabric and craft stores”). Any ideas in Silverdale, Tacoma, Bremerton, Port Orchard, etc? She said she found a dress in the color “candlelight” in a “very heavy satin”. Let me know! Thanks

Unfortunately you would have better luck in Portland, OR ... as fabrics stores have been closing in the Puget Sound Area.

You might try Pacific Fabrics. A local fabric chain with a store in Bremerton. I know its Northgate store has a good collection of bridal fabrics.

This webpage lists several quilt fabric stores in Washington:

Unfortunately I don't think Famous Labels Fabrics is still in Tacoma (they have a store in Tukwila near Southcenter). But since Tacoma is the largest city of the ones you listed you might try checking the phone book when you get there.

*It's still a good hour's drive (maybe more) north from where you'll be, but Victoria's Bridal [ http://www.customweddinggown.com/ ]in Edmonds is a shop that makes custom bridal/formal dresses and I understand that they have opened a shop for bridal fabrics. I'd suggest you call them to double check before making such a long drive. I live in Seattle so know the shops here (1/2 hour north of Tacoma) best: Satin Rose in Kirkland [(425) 822-7507] has wonderful fabrics including gorgeous bridal materials, although it's a pretty small shop, so there's not a ton of choice. In my opinion, the best shop in Seattle is Nancy's Sewing Basket [{206) 282-9112]. They have managed to pack their small store with tons of fabrics, including some truly fantastic bridal/formal choices.
