How to make flanged velvet pillow

grk006 | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

Hi there,

I’m very new to sewing and would like to make a throw pillow with flanged edges. From what I’m seeing online, it looks like its best to reinforce fabric with some type of backing and then iron to make edges crisp.

If I can’t iron velvet, what is the best way to go about this? It seems like most backing needs to be ironed on and then I’m not sure how I would get the folds right either.

I’d appreciate any feedback or help. Thank you!
