I am just starting a sewing business. I have orders for 20 garments, I’ve registered with the state and have sales tax ID, I’ve registered w/county. However, I have a feeling somewhere out there are Federal garment labeling laws (and other unknown laws) that will come back to haunt me if I ignore them. Any help (I am not sewing for children, so flamability laws do not apply) would be appreciated.
Also, resources for labels in small quantities? My sizing is mostly plus — 1X to 4X.
Much thanks.

I think that you may be required to do fabric content & washing instructions.
If you are doing such small quantities you may want to do home-made labels. Ironically I think it gives clothing a more special & custom made look the more home-spun they look. You can even just write the information on a ribbon with a permanent marker that gets stitched into a seam.
You can also use your computer to scan stuff in and print on silk or cotton.
*Ramona, if you want to buy these tags, lots of variations are available for sizing, fiber content, and care instructions. Try Bell Mfg.
