I have used several Folkwear patterns and am always amazed at how many inches I need to add to the underarm area. I have thin arms, too. I have used patterns from several different "cultures" so it is not purely a "cultural" problem. I have yet to use the Tibetian Panel Coat. Has anyone found this problem with this pattern?
*Jennifer, I use and wear Folkwear patterns almost exclusively. I have found that they are too narrow across the back for me. A narrow back feels that it pulls across the biceps on the upper arm. They are also too small in the neck for me at the shoulder seam. The shoulder seam pulls to the back. I do have to alter them for these 2 areas. Any of the alteration books out will tell you how to do this if this is your problem.Chris.
*No, the underarm area/armhole was big enough. I would just measure first, to see if you like it though. And I would double check the decoration piece going on top, and the facings for that area. I never used the decoration piece and made my own facing. However, I seem to recall that the decoration piece going over the shoulder looked a bit short to me.
*does anyone have the OLD cocoon coat #503? the new one is different, and i could kick myself for not buying the old one 8 years ago when i saw it. please email me so we can make a deal!
*Looking for a copy of the "Old Cocoon Coat" FromFolkwear. Had one! Lent it to a "friend???Never to be seen again.I would like to purchase another. I have the newversion but it lacks the panache of the original.
*I am trying to build a pattern library of discontinued Issey Miyake patterns, (and any others that are well loved and out of print) for loan-out and copying. I have set up a preliminary database to hold the copy library at p://groups.yahoo.com/group/MiyakePatternsLook in the database section and the files sectionIf you loan or copy a pattern for the library, you will have free access to copy all other patterns. I am starting with the patterns that have all sizes or size medium or 12/14. A group of us may buy patterns from Ebay, sharing in the cost so all members may copy them. Email me if you're interested, or would loan or rent or copy a pattern. Thanks,[email protected]
