I'm not sure that you will find much to help. I often work at an office based in northern France, right next to a huge shopping centre. However, there isn't a single material, wool, or any kind of handicraft shop there at all. I have met very few French women who bother to sew. They tend to buy high quality classics and update them with accessories. If I come across anything I'll let you know.
