Looking for pattern, Kimono-like top/jacket

room2ndfloor | Posted in Patterns on

I am looking for a pattern for kimono-style or surplice top or jacket.  I am making myself crazy looking in Threads archiives.  A few years ago, there was an article featuring a model wearing a lightweight (summer weight) jacket made from a kimono.  The jacket was a pastel color or a print.   The photo showed the model wearing a western skirt (I mean, not Japanese) or pants, and the outfit looked suitable for working in an office.

Failing finding the article, I’d like some guidance to make a garment like this.  I have a nice shibori kimono I would like to use.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Here's the page of all of Folkwear's Asian patterns.  http://www.folkwear.com/asian.html

      No, thanks

I have looked at the Folkwear patterns, and they are not what I want.  I don't want a flat-out real kimono, I want a short jacket that flows like that and would not look odd with ordinary business clothing.

What I want was featured in an old issue of Threads.  I have searched my DVDs and cannot find it.

    Answered my own question

By laboriously clicking through my archive DVD, I found that what I am looking for is a couple of Sewing Workshop patterns.

Picture is at Threads October 2007, page 61.

I find this DVD hard to navigate, and the scanner they used chopped off part of the text on some pages.

Old thread but I had been also hoping one day to make one. I found this one that could easily have that feel depending on fabric choice and style. For anyone else who comes along.
