I AM LOOKING FOR WOMEN TO INTERVIEW EITHER VIA PHONE OR E-MAIL FOR A RESEARCH PROJECT I AM CONDUCTING. I AM A UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AND I AM INTERESTED IN INTERVIEWING WOMEN ABOUT THEIR SEWING EXPERIENCES. I ALSO SEW AND WANT TO FIND OUT WHY OTHER WOMEN SEW. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE E-MAIL ME AT
[email protected].
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.
THE INTERVIEW TAKES NO LONGER THAN 15 MINUTES. [Moderator’s note: Carol has completed the first phase of her study. She was able to find 150 participants for her initial investigation and currently is no longer looking for participants. She may reopen her search within the next 3 months (May-July) due to the tremendous response from the faculty of her program.]

*I am interested in participating in your survey. I didn't learn to sew until I went to college. It saddens me that so many women today, don't know how to, or care to, sew. A lot of this attitude can be attributed to the historic expectation of requiring women to sew and definining it as "woman's work". As the many of current generation, who don't know how to sew or cook, find this creative avenue on their own,(not as an expectation) we may see a resurgence.( I hope soon) I quess another question is will we as leisure sewers be prepare to excite them?

*My wife Mrs. Prema,is a wonderful person, with a lot of talents. She is very fond of Sewing, apart from other hobbies. Yes she Sews for her own pleasure and at leisure. I feel that she may be interested in participating in this research project and can perhaps provide an Indian touch to this.I have not told her about this . So this will be a pleasant surprise for her.I found this page when I was looking for some information on the subject of TECHNOLOGY OF SEWING THREAD MANUFACTURING. I am interested to know the various properties that are important for High Quality Sewing Threads both in Cotton and in Synthetics. If some one has some information and would be willing to share the information, he/she is welcome. This is purely for accademic interest and there is no commercial or business interest.I may be contacted on the same e- mail Thanks and regardsRamamurthy (Mr.)
