Measuring

GinnaS | Posted in Patterns on

I am going to make a hat from Vogue 9207 version B from a cotton fabric.  This is a big brimmed hat.  The package includes sizes 20.5″, 21.5″, 22.5″, and 23.5″.  I’ve looked through the instructions and can find no instructions as to how to measure my head.  Would I measure straight across my head at my forehead?  Do I take a taut measurement or keep a finger inside to account for ease?

Any assistance is welcome.

Thanks.

Ginna

Hi Ginnas,    I would measure around the forehead keeping the tape level to the floor.  No finger for ease,  but check the part of the pattern that goes around your head in the size you've measured.  Maybe compare that measurement to a hat you know fits comfortably.  And it probably depends on how big your hair is, don't you think?                                                                            rjf

Thanks for answering.  That's about what I thought but was just enough unsure that I felt I had to ask.
