My New DVD “Best of” won’t play

Knitnut | Posted in Feedback on Threads on

I bought the DVD and put it into my PC.  I have 2 drives, a regular CD read drive, and a CD read/write drive.  I’ve used other DVDs in my PC but this one will NOT register as even being in the player.

Has anyone else had any problems?  Got any answers?  I don’t want to watch it on my TV – I need it in my sewing room.

Do you have a DVD drive in you Pc OR are they both CD drives?

No DVD will play in a CD drive.

If you have had a disc with movies playing on your Pc then it would be a CD disc formatted with a movie.

I have the "BEST OF" and it plays fine in my Pc DVD drive.

Oh shoot!  You are right!  My PC is older and I thought the CD RW was able to play the DVDs but when I ordered that new drive - I said Naw. . . I'll NEVER watch a movie on my PC!  So I didn't get the DVD player!  Ugh.  Now I'll have to save up for one.  Thanks for your help.  I didn't figure it out on my own.

Hi, glad I helped you in understanding why the dvd wouldn't play. You can purchase an external DVD drive/player, which will plug into your pc (ask at pc shop) which will allow it to play dvd's for you. If your old pc does everything you need, then this I feel is the cheaper option.

That's a good idea.  I'll compare my options, but my old PC is really old so I'm thinking I really need to upgrade - this is just one more excuse!

Like purchasing a new sewing machine, take your time, do lots of research, check the sales! Have fun, I wish you well. Cp (sydney)
